Things I Loved in 2015 - The Wholesome Handbook

2015 was full of love, messy, chaotic, stressful, gorgeous. So, without further ado, some things that captured my imagination, made my heart sing, and that I just plain loved this year:

  • Promising myself to my love in a century-old barn in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain
  • Teaching embroidery to a beautifully diverse group at the Women’s Centre
  • The complex, brutally competitive world of Lolita fashion
  • Photographs of sleepy-eyed, voluptuous Victorian era actresses
  • Gothic romance, from Crimson Peak to Wuthering Heights to Jane Eyre
  • The dizzying desert maelstrom of Mad Max: Fury Road
  • The pervasive incense and noise and chaos of Bali
  • Romantic-era art, all soft skin and raw emotion
  • Rosewater tonic, cleansing with oils, sea salt baths
  • Hosting my first new moon women’s circle, complete with fiery cauldron and honeyed wine
  • Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D Minor
  • Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet 17
  • Escaping to a wood-heated cabin off the grid for three blissful days in the dead of winter
  • Faux fur, gold, silk, + quartz
  • My unique and wonderful bachelorette party, feasting on champagne and brie in a mossy outcropping on a mountain with babes
  • Stardust + The Dovekeepers
  • Dip-pens, india ink, brush calligraphy
  • Naming and exploring my darkness with a month-long autumn equinox spiritual detox
  • Lakmé at the opera, Scheherazade at the symphony, The Crucible at the theatreThings I Loved in 2015 - The Wholesome Handbook Things I Loved in 2015 - The Wholesome Handbook
